This kit enables to verify the electric nature of particles in a body electrically charged. The test proposed by this kit will show two behaviours: 1) if petroleum ether is used, there is no deviation of the liquid thread; 2) on the contrary, if water is used, students can observe a deviation of the liquid thread. In this last case, the rod will attract the molecules showing a dipole. The molecules having a positive end and a negative end will be characterized by a dipole. The rod has been charged after being rubbed with a cloth, this operation provokes the passage of electrons between the two bodies: the body releasing electrons takes a positive charge, whereas the enriched body will be charged negatively. In the case of petroleum ether, there is no attraction because particles have a negligible electric charge.
