The vaporisation of a liquid occurs with absorption of heat. To determine the enthalpy of vaporisation, a known mass of the test liquid is vaporised in a special container for vaporisation in an air stream. The amount of heat absorbed which corresponds to the enthalpy of vaporisation can be determined calorimetrically
