This kit enables to test the electrolytic process; in detail the water molecule is decomposed by electric energy. Some water is added to a solution of sulfuric acid, then two platinum electrodes are plunged into the solution. Applying an external electric field to the liquid will produce an electric current that provokes the decomposition (electrolysis) of water molecules. These molecules are split into their own constituents: hydrogen and oxygen.
